What does a diabetes diagnosis mean for me and my cat?
Diabetes is a rest of life condition, if caught early it can be kept to a minimum with a special diet. Some cats however will need daily medication for the rest of their days. Without adequate insurance this can lead to heart breaking decisions for an owner. More and more cats are being handed over to the Cat Protection League as owners cannot afford to treat this condition.
What can I do to prevent it?
Some cats will get diabetes regardless of how great an owner you are but being aware of the signs and symptoms you can catch diabetes early and reduce the impact of this disease and kept your beloved pet in the best possible health.
Above all!!! Keep your cat’s weight within healthy limits. Like us humans, obesity is a major risk factor in the development of diabetes.
